Grand opening soon? pt. 2

From Monday on the main site of Google every 1 of 20 US users can see direct link to register a Gmail account. Does this mean that Gmail will be open for everyone soon? Remember that on 1st April Gmail will have its first birthday.

Date format pt. 2

Date format came back to its old style. Mails received this year have just date and month, last years ones have date in month/day/year format.

New features

Today on my account switch view option has been enabled. Basic html has no Edit labels, Create filter, Select: All, None, Read, Unread, Starred, Unstarred options in message window, we can't edit and delete contacts, send invites and change global settings. Headers of messages are expanded, there is no Add sender to Contacts list and Report phishing options. Formatting of contacts is definitely better - names of contacts aren't cutted. All in all functionality of Gmail is basic in this view (too basic IMHO).
Integration with Picasa is accomplished this way - we can log in into Gmail directly from Picasa, then compose message and send photos. After that our sent mail is in Send mail folder.

Localized Gmail

There are reports that Google is testing localized version of Gmail user interface. Dutch and Italian version have been spotted recently.
